Balance
Life Is A Balancing Act
Living a balanced life takes on many different meanings and as humans we face challenges to balance everyday. Teenagers and young adults face a unique challenge of finding balance in the many competing aspects of their lives. Not only are they challenged with learning academic and vocational skills, but they must also learn certain day to day life skills usually not taught in schools. My goal is to help provide a student focused curriculum addressing the whole person, mental, physical, and emotional. Students will be faced with a challenging group curriculum designed to diminish defensiveness, build confidence, and teach cooperation and teamwork, while promoting a sense of accomplishment.

Within the group environment, students will work interdependently (together) to learn the basic skills of self-esteem, communication, emotional regulation, problem solving, empathy, and leadership. There will also be a focus on building employment skills, money management, drug and alcohol education, physical and emotional self-care, communication, taking responsibility for actions, and critical thinking. Finally, this integrated approach will allow emotional intelligence to improve and personal growth to occur naturally through our structured, safe, and therapeutic school environment.
